Most of us "discovered" masturbation (jerking off, wanking, etc.) once we reached the age of puberty and our sexual curiosity naturally became an obsession. Despite having the availability of all these willing "tutors" (older siblings), among them a gay oldest brother, none of them shared with us the wisdom of practicing a "look" that would invite and encourage others to get naked and join in our sexual games.
